Experiment: Projection Puppetry

The basics of cinema tell us that the way to create a photographic image is to capture light and darkness to create a still. In cinema, the capturing rate of light needs to be around 24 frames per second to capture a movement that is smooth to the human eye. To then project such a thing also need to happen at 24 frames per second, to re-create the movement originally captured.

All of this is a preamble to me stating I have endavored to use the mechanism that is projection as something to be captured again. I had already looked at the idea of (shadow) puppetry in one of my previous experiments, but this time I decided to use light and dark and to create the silhouettes that started the first animated feature lenght film. While this experiment did not give me the results I was hoping for, in allowing me to create a landscape out of dark and light, it was an interesting experiment in any case. As the light does not allow the texture and handcraft to be seen as easily as using other methods, I will be laying this method to rest for now.
